SHEM About US

SHEM Guiding Principles & Purposes

  • Help those in need. Follow the Lord’s command to care for people who are struggling, wherever and whenever we can.

  • Be a first point of help. Serve as a clearinghouse for people facing emergency needs.

  • Connect people with the right resources. Refer individuals to government, nonprofit, and community agencies that are better equipped to meet specific needs.

  • Help those who fall through the cracks. Support people who don’t qualify for assistance from other agencies or who have nowhere else to turn.

  • Bring the community together. Give churches, individuals, community groups, and organizations opportunities to help through prayer, financial support, volunteering, and donated resources or skills.

Board Member Structure

·         The SHEM Board consists of no more than 15 members, including pastoral representatives, at least four lay members, and one volunteer staff representative.
